GP2, Graphics Cards, and the Meaning of life...

  (Not necessarily in that order)
I have a Pentium 100/16MB RAM, but I'm looking to upgrade from my stock
24bit Cirrus/1MB PCI card.  Naturally, I've looked long and hard at
GP2...and I wish to get the best performance out of it once I procure it.
I know very well that 200 MHz P6's with 128-bit graphics cards still ***
on it, so I don't expect to run full detail...Just a few detail elements
would be fine...So, based on this information, and the knowledge that I am
also HIGHLY interested in future 3D-capable products as NASCAR 2 and
(probably) IndyCar 3, what graphics card would you recommend I upgrade to?
I understand (perhaps erroniously) that there is currently no standard
for 3D acceleration, so which (Diamond, Creative, etc...) seems to be the
early leader in the field?  If it matters, I am currently leaning towards
the (future) Creative 3D-Blaster PCI, with the "Rendition" chip, that is
"Not yet shipping, and we don't know when it will"...Any information would
be welcome.

    Thanks...
