nascar 99 sucks

who here thinks  EA's Nascar 99 sucks?
a combo of horrable control and lack of depth make this game a looser in my
opinion.
Last year for my playstation I rented EA's nascar 98.  I expected it to be
cool.
Me and my friends played for a total of 6 minutes before returning it to the
dusty shelf were it sat before.  My neighbor recently bought Ea's nascar 99
for N64 and it is the dumbest game ive ever played.  when you go backwards
at 200 mph and hit a car comming at you 200mph your car wouldnt just flip
upsiddown  it be blown away.  All that happended to me was I got a little
damage.  At least in nascar racing 2 you die, if you hit anything over 50
mph.  this pre-*** slumber party game is good for 3rd graders, but a
serious gamer should buy papy's nascar racing 99.

That's a given. Any EA NASCAR product hasn't shown any promise. Perhpas
NasRev will be a step up.

Control's are second on my list. The lack of proper physics is what makes
this an arcade game in my book.

Probably had damage set to limited.

Probably not. Serious SIMMERS should buy Papy's NR1999. You'll see a ton of
*** gamers get frustrated with Papy. *lol*

Actually, you could apply that to all EA games (note: games / not
simulations) or at least the ones I was a sucker enough to purchase. After
a few purchases of EA games, it'll take an aweful lot of fantastic reviews
before I purchase another one. Granted EA games have great graphics but
gameplay realism is another story.

The problem is that EA can't decide if they want to make an arcade or sim game
so it ends up being crappy at both.
Here were my main complaints with Nascar 99
1) Lack of sensation of speed
2) Unrealistacally slow acceleration
3) Unrealistic drafting and physics ( I could gain 20 mph on the straights by
drafting at Martinsville )
Thankfully I just rented it.

Thank You,

Patrick Shumar

I have heard many Nascar drivers mention that there is
very little sensation of speed, running so close together on
oval tracks.  Would that not make it realistic?  Plus they
are geared for top end, not stop-go-slooow driving.

Make sure you aren't running with more graphics than your system can handle.
I've found that the sensation of speed radically depends on which view you use
(bumper is best) and what level of graphics (turn off the sky!).  Further, the
real-time to game-time also strongly varies.  I condemn any game that uses
such a design.  BTW, that includes GP2.

On the positive, I find this demo FUN!  Fun enough that it made this
NASCAR-phobe actually go out and purchase Papyrus' Nascar 1999. Yes, Papy's is
a superior sim, but I miss Nascar Rev's in-your-face visuals and awesome
sounds.
