N2HQ entry list problem

by Mark Manr » Wed, 30 Apr 1997 04:00:00

I'm having problems with N2HQ's entry list function.  When I try to start a new
list and double click on a .CAR file, I get an error message box.  When I click
on the error message box, I get the statement, "RUN TIME ERROR '9' SUBSCRIPT
OUT OF RANGE."  In addition, the driver's name appears in the new entry list
box under driver's name, but nothing shows up in the new entry list box under
file name.  As a final touch, a new file shows up in Explorer with the driver's
name and 0kb of data.  All the .CAR files I'm using are downloaded from various
sites.  I have not installed the N2 patch, although if I could just install the
part that allows all the .CAR files to appear when making entry lists, I'd be
tempted.  As a new N2 user, my thanks to all the car painters, patch writers
and especially to Dane Johnson for N2HQ.  Any help would be most appreciated.

N2HQ entry list problem

I have used N2HQ quite alot and noticed this type of problem too. The second
person in your driver list will have the name concantonated with the 3rd person,
and the flie size will be 0K. Also your drivers *WILL* eventually not show up
in the game. But if you manage to put together a proper SEASON97 with
N2HQ list and select it, everyone will show up as they should in the right side of
the screen as normal. N2HQ is a really fine program except for 2 or 3 things.

1) *.CAR names do get mangled and some how N2 cannot see all your
remaining drivers in the UNSELECTED portion of the driver info screen.
2) N2HQ.INI insists on putting itself on the desktop in order to keep track of the
N2 game path. In reality it should keep track of this sort of thing via a
N2HQ.INI which should be located in the N2HQ program directory.

BTW, I do not know why I should even mention point 2. Something like this
is an obvious program design thing that is most basic IMHO. N2HQ is really
a great idea but in my experience is not quite up to***yet.
