I'm told it works on PS2 but not Xbox.

Hmm, GT4 is mighty tempting... but where the hell do you put the wheel?

On the desk.

The PS2 has a USB connection (the Xbox's controller port is proprietary) and
most USB wheels work with most PS2 driving programs (I use Thrustmaster's
Ferrari wheel w. GT3), but not all functions are supported (altho GT3
supports more than most), i.e., don't throw away the Dual Shock gamepad with
the packaging.

There are a couple of dedicated PS2 wheel&pedal combos, but the ones I tried
were ***(altho I haven't tried Logi's 900-degree--2-1/2 turns l. to
l.--wheel).  You really can't go wrong with GT3; I rated it the best of all
the console racers in an article I wrote for Motor Trend last year...and
nothing has come along since to change my mind.  GT4, particularly w.
multiplayer, is bound to be better (most purists fault GT3's AI), but  MS is
determined to break Sony's hold on the console racer market w. Forza
Motorsport.  We'll see....

My friend brought over his PS2 when I got my thrustmaster ferrari force
wheel.. We just slid my PC monitor off to the side, and slapped down a
Commodore 64 monitor.. worked great! Turismo 3 recognized the wheel, force
feedback worked and shifing was already mapped to the paddles as well as the
shifter on the side!

I have a TV input on my computer with svideo in, if we were to do it again..
I'm sure we'd just use that..

I've tried using my Momo race wheel and I couldn't get it to work.....only
the generic force GT wheel (whatever that is) was listed for GT3 when I
tried. If anyone got their Momo race to work, I'd appreciate knowing how.
TIA

I have the MOMO Force (the red one, not the black Racing one) and it
works pretty well with GT3 for the PS2, and presumably, GT4.   The
paddle shifters got mapped automatically, force feedback works, etc etc.

The only problem I had is sorta like what I have to use MOMOTweak on my
PC for.   The game just seemed to miscalibrate it, so it was off-center
by a few degrees.   Not unusable by any means, it just felt like all the
cars had alignment issues.

Keep in mind that the wheel doesn't work with EVERY PS2 racing title,
just the ones that support the logitech family of steering wheels
(usually denoted on the game as supporting the GT Force wheel).

XBox is an impossibility, they have a proprietary USB setup for their
controllers and don't show any signs of opening it up to the outside
world.   Unless Microsoft themselves put out an adapter for standard USB
to their controller ports, no dice.

I seem to remember that soon after the XBox came out, someone tried
this.   Well, more accurately, they took the cover off the XBox, went to
where the controller port goes into the daughterboard, and attached a
standard USB cable.   It apparently didn't work, due to some detection
method it uses, similar to that which the console itself uses to
determine if games are valid XBox games as opposed to copies.

I wish I could find the link...

Wait, nevermind, I've been proven wrong, it appears.   This guy managed
to get his USB keyboard working on the XBox with an XBox Linux install.
However, those usually require a mod-chip, so I'm wondering if the
mod-chip disables the checking on the gameports...

I tried this myself - actually I did it to run linux on an Xbox with a USB
keyboard & mouse which worked fine.

Xbox games won't recognize any USB PC controller though.

I have the red wheel as well. I plugged it in and all, this being a while
back. Now that i think of it, I was looking for it to appear as in a PC
style. Never thought to try it under the generic Force GT settings in the
game. Is this the way to do it ?? If so, Duh !!! to me !!!!  Can the pedals
be setup as well.......that would be sweet.   Thanks for all the info.

Yep, pedals work just fine.   Just tell the game it's a GT Force and all
will work as advertised.

You might have some exciting attempts at trying to move the cursor
around when choosing car/track/whatever with the wheel (it'll not move
at all until you hit a certain point, when the cursor just rockets
along), but you'll get used to the spot to flick the wheel to to get it
to hop forward or back one spot.

Enjoy!

I have the black Momo racing wheel and I tried hooking it up again last
night and still doesn't work. Tried detaching the controllers and then
leaving them in.......every time I go to the calibration and button
assignment section, it keeps telling me to plug it in...............it is
!!!!   Any ideas ??        Thanks again.
