I've installed the patch and the over rev indicator light still
doesn't work. Is there a fix for this??
Thanks

It works. Look closer. No one said it was bright!

Well, it sorta works. The overrev light comes on at different points
depending upon which chassis you select. Haven't tested the Penske chassis
yet, but for the Lola it is 13,000rpm and for the Reynard it's 13,500rpm.
Engine choice is not a factor.

IMHO Papyrus aka Sierra has gone in the dumpster. The patch was a joke
that they waited nine months to give birth to. The quality control
continues to be poor. How could they spend nine months on a patch and
link an over-revving indicator light to a chassis make? I just got GP2
today and even though it taxes my machine, I doubt that indycar will be
revved up for quite some time. Papyrus does some things right like
giving us the options to customize the track, race, driver and car
settings but they fall short in quality control, physics of driving the
open wheel cars over curbs, sound and the little things that draw you
in. Too bad we can't get Crammond to look at what papy has done and
incorporate it in his sims (and vice/versa).
Soapbox off
So what chassis did you ran a few laps on? Lola 74?
I might sound rude, but, how can you know how real 1995 Indycars
handle? Have you sat in any open wheel cars?
Dave.

I think what Jeff was trying to say is that an over-rev light has
nothing to do with the chassis, but rather the engine. A Honda should
blink the rev-light at a set amount of RPM no matter what chassis option
is chosen. Putting a Honda in a Penske doesn't make the engine any
stronger (***generally speaking***) than placing it in a Reynard.
Certainly, different engines in the same chassis will have different
warning levels.
No Dave, you don't sound rude ... just silly.

This is a kind of non-related question. Does anyone have nascar, and if
you do how much better is ICR2?

It depends on what you are looking for in a racing sim. ICR2 has an
improved graphics engine which should allow you a better frame rate over
NASCAR. If you do go for ICR2, be sure to get the patch to bring it up
to 1.0.2. ICR2 also models weight-transfer/traction correctly, whereas
NASCAR still has this bug. I think the AI in ICR2 are better than in
NASCAR. Other than that the differences really apply to the different
race disciplines simulated.
