In real life you have no such luxery!

Yeh, but what do you hit to stop your engine exploding when you over-rev
by accident or are king hit up the arse by your modem opponent - ALT b
is a bit inconvenient when your engine is dead

In many forms of motorsports you do have that luxury.  I don't know about
Indycars but they can use them in NASCAR.

Um, please watch the race at Mid-Ohio.  You can CLEARLY hear the cars on
the limiter in turns 7, 8 & 9.  You know, the rev limiter that PREVENTS
you from blowing your motor from over-revving.  It's NOT in the game.

a rev limiter is somthing that goes in your car so that it keeps you
under a certin RPM no matter hoe far you put the gas to the floor. It
woulden't help though if your were going 220 mph and shifted into 1st!

WHOA!! I thought he meant for the pits since thats when the rev limiter
is mostly used. If he or you need a rev limiter for the race something
is wrong with your driving ;)

Let's see... You're near redline at full throttle, your opponent hits you from behind
hard enough to push you "into the red" and your engine blows.
Did I get that right?
If so, I don't think an engine limiter is the cure.... Maybe a new modem opponent  :)

Having an engine limiter to keep you from over-revving your engine is a little like
turning on "automatic shifting", isn't it?     I think it detracts from the realism.
Part of the thrill of manual shifting is getting the most out of your engine without
blowing it up.    IMHO

Um, when will you people understand.  REAL IndyCars HAVE rev limiters.  In
REAL life for REAL.  They DO prevent a motor from blowing from
over-revving for REAL.

We are not asking for a cheat, we are asking for a REAL limiter.  Hey,
even some passenger cars have REAL rev limiters.  For REAL.  Get the
point.  REALLY!

And you have the balls to call this GAME a SIM!  REALLY.

Here is the beef.  The SOUNDS of the engine do not always match to the
revs all of the time.  That is 13000 does not ALWAYS sound the same from
shift to shift.  Therefore, if you are like me and shifting by SOUND (so
you can watch the ROAD), you will find that you will be venting more
motors than you wish.

It's a REAL item in REAL life.  REALLY.

Thats weird cause I shift by sound and NEVER blow motors, Why do you
need a REV limiter in ICR2? Unless you have no control you shouldnt need
one in the least, I guess this seperates the men from the boys ;)
Nothing personal I just cant see why you need it

I don't know about "detracts from the realism", I don't know for sure
but I'd be very surprised if Indy rules didn't allow rev-limiters (and
cars have them fitted). What's the point of forcing people to risk
extremely expensive engines for the sake of a relatively cheap limiter?

A rev-limiter is MORE realistic.

Cheers!
John

<snip>

Since it's only a GAME and not a SIM, why are you so upset that it does not have everything that
REAL life has?

It's only a GAME, really.

EDIT......

 REAL ly,

Hey Doug, you REALLY need to lighten up !!! (joke ya all) BTW I think
you will find almost ALL modern (post '90) cars have rev limiters, I
agree with you 100% it would be nice to have a rev limiter but not to
the extent of GP2 where you can go from 6th to 1st and hear the V10
revving its balls out but she won't blow, now  THAT is un realistic.
