RASCAR: I'm Back! (more rules!!)

Hi guys!

Just wanted to let you all know that I've now returned from my vacation and
that I hope to join you all on track soon...

I see that RASCAR have got some rules now and that the whole thing has
become a bit more serious - which IMO - is a very good thing...

Just a few questions...

Why the sudden change in some of the settings we've used??
Both forced smoke and full pace laps are *good* things to use!
Especially full pace-lap which we've proved time and again is a must with
yellows on...

The full pace lap only affects the FIRST lap.  Even without it, I really don't
see the problem.  You still go through turns 3/4 on an oval, or at least turn
4.  Since 'warming the tires' doesn't work well in the game, what's the
advantage?

Even so - both of those WERE set for yesterday's race.  I'm not sure what made
you think they weren't...

The advantage is the field is settled, those who start at the rear can be
seriously left behind on a partial pace lap (or come flying around the last
turn only to find they can't slow for the pacing line).

Correct. At least at my end.

Ah, ok.  I thought he was talking about problems starting on a banked track,
like in GPL.  I couldn't see the same problem in N2K2.

Actually I'm thinking of both Eldred...
'Remember why I asked you to turn full pace lap on in the first place?
With yellow's on - so little is needed before the starter will call it of
and have us do another pace-lap...

I was not present at Michigan so I wouldnt know if they were on or not....
I was just voicing my oppinion over the rules posted on John site - which I
thought were 'official'...

I cannot see any valid reason whatsoever  for disableing these two
'features' in the sim.... (RC's being the exception WRT full pacelaps...)

I guess I *didn't* remember why you mentioned it.  I'm getting old... :-(

Ooh - I gotta check that...  I didn't think it mentioned pace lap OR forced
smoke.

I can see one valid reason for not forcing smoke(even though I still do it).
It bogs framerate on slower machines.  That might make it more difficult to
avoid an incident if your steering inputs are 'behind' what the car is actually
doing.
