NASCAR Pro Digital 2 - can I use shifter paddles as accelerator and break?

It says on the box that the shifter paddles can be used as the accelerator
and break, but does it actually work? I heard it does not. Has anyone
successfully configured the wheel to be used this way? I've got real room
for floor pedals.

it would depend on the game, but the trouble is, you would have buttons
for the gas and brake, not levers(pedals) so when you click on the gas, you
get ALL the gas and when you clik on the brake you get the brakes mashed
100%.  There is a cheaper older TM product that used levers where the
shifters are, that one could be used,(by levers, I mean when you pull on the
shifter it has a smooth movement that the wheel can translate much like a
gas pedal being pressed,  but with the Pro Digital 2, there are really
buttons so nothing happens until you pull far enough to clik the
button...thats why it wouldn't be a good choice for using the shifter
paddles for gas and brake.  it would be the same as using two keys on your
keyboard.)

Yes but the box advertises that this can be done. Does anybody know if it
really can work?

As Dave pointed out yes it will work, but its not a god idea because you are
only getting buttons for brake and gas. So its all or nothing with the brake
and gas. IF your only playing a Need For Speed type of game you would
probably be happy, but in more of a sim title your just asking for trouble.
You'd most likely have to run a gas and brake assist as well.

Thanks. Guess I'll look at one of those "Momo" wheels.

In fact some games (N4, NR02) give you no option, if you use switches for
gas and brake the assists are automatically on.
