Well --- the new patch has been here a few days and it is
wonderful isn't it?

MAJOR WARPING   CLOCK SMASHES ----- SLO MO SCREEN ---------

Which is going to bring me to my point.

IF I remember correctly the MAJOR BRAINS at PAPY decided to NOT
include an adjustable AI in GPL because they "thought it went against"
the intent of the sim ----- which was to give the most realistic
experience known ------- TO MANKIND!!!!!!!!!!

NOW ------ we all know that was the simple phrase of BULL***-
worthy of a used car salesman ------  because this is nothing like
real life ----- and the sim NEVER has been.  NOW with the problems
that have cropped up AFTER the "NEW AND IMPROVED" -------------
"PATCH".

What has happened now is that everyone has to make a choice of
putting up with this worthless garbage of a PATCH or revert to version
1.0 (which I have done-- by the way) -------- and it effectively takes
me off the network of racing in SPYBOY.

This would be a nice time to have an adjustable AI SLIDER BAR (DO
YOU HEAR ME ??????????????????) for the AI so I don't have to worry
about falling victim to the ---------- PATCH grimlins again ----- I
merely decide to race the computer and have fun.

BUT NOW -------------- I get to watch the AI zoom around the track
faster than four seconds quicker than THEY ACTUALLY QUALIFIED in 1967
----------- HOW's THAT FOR REALISM?????

    WE HAVE BEEN HAD -------------

     CORPORATE POLITICS ----------------- HA!!!!!!!

Thank God there are only a very few people here on RAS posting in this
manner.... after reading this useless message, I've got this little
beep in my ears from all that shouting....

I'd rather he kept his distinctive "style" (read: affliction). That way I
can recognise his posts straight away and, er... take appropriate action.

A potentially stoned Douglas Haithcock babbled :

You're not still talking about Kyalami are you? If I remember correctly
this was explained to you MANY times.

The reason the cars run faster there in GPL is that GPL models the 1967
cars. In reality, the teams used their 1966 cars at Kyalami for the 1967
race as it took place in early January and the new models weren't ready
at the time.

When the 1967 cars ran at Kyalami early in 1968 they ran laptimes
comparable to those simulated in GPL.

Oh, and BTW: Your post sucked. Think. Then learn to write properly. Then
post.

Cheers!

Hehe, even if he wasn't using those dashes to send coded messages to
the UNABOMBER who reads this from jail, you would still be able to
"recognise" his posts by looking for posts that have over 80% of the
content letters capitalized :-)

Seeyas on the track.

Heh, like adding a kill filter for any subject header that contains
more than, say, 50 hyphens? :)

No offense to Douglas, but man--just the sight of that header made me
chuckle out loud.

"Hello, tech center?  What should I do about this gum that got stuck
under my hyphen key?  It was fine at first, but then it got all soft
and mushy...  Now I have to pull on the key to get it to come up, and
it's making it tough to write usenet posts..."

Erm, methinks you may have had a little too much caffeine?

Take a happy pill ( - you know, the one the men in white coats give you when
they unlock your door - ) and r-e-l-a-x......

Yes, the patch has a problem or two. No, it didn't show up in beta testing
(Randy Cassidy confirmed that), and yes, I think Papy will endeavor to fix
it.

GPL is one of the few sims around where you CAN change the AI skill AT ALL,
no matter how fiddly it is. GPAL will make it easier. Now, for ****'s sake,
give Papy a chance to do something about it. Accusing them of bull***
really isn't going to motivate them much is it?

I'm sick and tired of people going so WAY over the top, over the only REAL
problem GPL has got, which was created by a FREE enhancement patch, which
Papy haven't had a chance to bugfix yet. Jeez!

Still, at least the contents of the post were a polite, well-reasoned
argument, that echoes a sentiment with which we all agree.........  ;^P
