As soon as I get into the start screen the mouse cusor just freezes up not
letting
me choose anything or starting the game. I'm using the glide dll the Sierra
site
recommends I put in the GPL directory to prevent this but it doesn't help at
all.
I have a Creative Labs voodoo 2 with the 3dfx reference drivers. I'm using a
serial
scrolling mouse. I ended task on everthing including the mouse, still a no go.
I changed the IRQ for the serial port in the BH6 bios but nothing works. This
is really a super drag. Can anyone offer any suggestions, please?

Make sure you have the 2.53 version placed in your GPL main folder.
Also you may want to try turning off any fancy features for your mouse
driver, or even try a generic mouse driver to see if that helps.

I had a similar problem, my windows display settings were at 640x480 and I
got a similar problem to you, the mouse pointer just sat at the top left
hand side of the screen and I couldn't do anything.

I changed my windows display setting to 800x600 and it worked just fine.

This might be nothing to do with it as I use Riva TNT graphics rather than
Voodoo II like yourself, but it's probably worth trying a few different
resolutions to see if you get any joy.

Your problem is not caused by your video card.
The problem is your serial mouse, the 3Dfx version of
GPL has problems with a serial mouse.

You are talking about BH6 so I presume your
motherboard is a Abit BH6 you are lucky with that
as the BH6 also has a Ps/2 mouse connection.
Just get yourself a Ps/2 mouse and hook it up
to the Ps/2 mouse port and uninstall the serial
mouse.

Now start GPL and keep your fingers crossed.

I had the same problem as you have. Unfortunatly
my motherboard had no Ps/2 mouse port so I had
to buy a brandnew motherboard (Asus P2b)

Let me know or it solves your problems!
My problems are solved now and I really enjoy GPL!

Mixer you hit it right on the nose. My mouse
has an adapter for serial or ps/2. I set it up
as a ps/2 and presto, GPL works fine. I really
want to thank you very much for this solution.
I couldn't wait to try out the converted N2
tracks. I was in agony since I couldn't play
GPL at all and not being able to try out the new tracks either was an extra
kick in the gut.
Again thank you so much. You da man !
By the way I noticed you signed your post
groeten. Are you Dutch? My ex wife is Dutch
and I had a great time in Holland a few years
ago. Its really a beautiful country. I want to go
back again, I miss it.
