Using a Force RS Wheel, after I set the thing to use seperate axes for
the pedals, every time I run the game, I need to run it twice- the
first time, it sets all the controls to the keyboard, doesn't even
detect the wheel (even though all is fine, it's initialized and it
works in the control panel).

The second time I run it, with no changes, it works.

Anybody seen this? Any clue how to fix it?

not exactly, but every time I re-boot, i lose my controller settings in the
game.
