My gas pedal start to make some noise (plastic) since yesterday.
i opened the pedal unit but can't find where it comes from, put some oil
here and there and it didn't change nothing.

Someone had the same problem?

My brake pedal's been squeaking for months. Doesn't seem to affect
performance though....

Have a look around and see if you notice any fine white powder. This is the
plastic that has been scraped off (the noise you hear) as two pieces of
plastic move past one another. This is the spot to be lubricated.
I did this on the first night I had it and has not bothered me since.

Ian

It happened to me. When I opened up the base I found the spring had broken,
but had not noticed this through the feel of the pedal. I replaced the
internal spring with a lash up of an external bungee cord, and it worked so
good I did the same to the other pedal. Try using grease instead of oil,
something like petroleum jelly is good.

my throttle pedal squeaked like a bastard soon after i bought it, so with a
little disassembly of the pedals don't worry nothing goes "boing" and use a
little vasaline on the big springs on each pedal, i've had no problems since

Steve,

While your fix sounds like it works just fine, using petroleum jelly on
plastic based parts will cause them to dry out, crack, and break. Use a
graphite based non-petroleum based product on all plastic parts.

Warning, Warning!!!

Oil solves the most plastics. After a while you get a sticky surface -
no good.
Vaseline doesn't affect plastic and works quite fine.

Better you clean of the oil (I recommend *** - test in advance)
before you get into problems.

I read some time ago that graphite is best. Something greasy like vasoline
easily attracts dust and dirt.

No petroleum based product should be used on plastics,as it will
eventually make them brittle by drying out the oil in the plastic. And
Vaseline is petroleum based. Use a graphite. Lasts a long time and won't gum
up the works as Vaseline will.

You're right.
Vaseline can collect dust, but usually outside the bearing. So no
problem. Only wipe it off from time to time, when doing the
lubrication.
