GPL Newbie help

Anyone offer some help for a newbie?

Just installed a "proper" copy of GPL on a win2000 machine.
Game will not run at all!
Downloaded and installed 1.2 patch and game now starts OK
I can get to all the set up screens but every time I try to start a race it
asks for the CD.
I have tried using both of my CD drives but it still will not run.
This is even when I autorun the CD and select the play option.

HELP!

goto http://www.papy.com and get the disco patch and the cpu fix from the
downloads section. The cpu fix has a no-cd built in.
   also have a look here http://hotgrids.racesimcentral.com/ in the top left
is some great help for those starting out in GPL.

Just for the record, the CPU speed patch also includes the disco patch, so
you don't actually need both.
