GPL Newbie Needs a Bit of Help.

by elrik » Sun, 14 Apr 2002 13:13:17

Just got a brand new original edition ( I think, came with sealed box with a
front flap thingee, one cd, and two manuals) of GPL and installed it,
patched it up and it runs fine.

My system is as follows;  P4 1.8,  512K,  GF 3 Ti 500 (28.32 drivers) ,  SB
Audigy Platinum Ext and running on Win XP Pro.

The readme for the direct3d patch says that GF 3 cards can run antialiasing
quite high (level 3) but that the game can't turn in on by itself;  says it
needs some sort of reg hack probably,

When I force AA on in the direct 3d tab of my vid card properties it sort of
works while driving but trashes most of the menu and replay editor screens.
They become more unreadable and the colors are all fritzed.

The game plays fine in 1280x1024 (at least while in training with no other
cars) so it wont be a big problem if I don't find a fix, but I'd like to get
rid of the octagon shaped curves around corners.  (this works in NR2002).

Has anyone with a similar system succeded in getting AA to work and if so
how ?

Thanks in advance.

Runs fine in 1600*1200 here, and a lowly TBird1.2ghz(200fsb) CPU and a
Radeon VIVO.  I have never got the FSAA to work though, which is a
pity cos I'd rather play at 1024*768 FSAA than 1600*1200 vanilla.

So I'll be watching this thread closely for tips ;-)

I can run GPL at 1024x768 with AA (2 or 4 times) on my Athlon XP1700+ and
GF3 ti500 with good framerates, but prefer the look at 1600x1200 (no AA) on
a 19"monitor. The FSAA does***up the menus as well.
         Hope this helps...

My monitor is a Sony 19" and so I'll give a try 1600x1200 without AA.
I've have updated  (and added) most of the tracks with various 16bit graphic
packages and the game still runs flawlessly in 1280x1024.

Thanks
