Hi guys !

I starting to have dfficults to improve my times so i would like to ask
you some questions.

I use a MS FF Wheel ( midi port ), if i use another wheel could i be
better ?
I often heard that the best combo was to use ActLab wheel with special
pedals ( wich ? ). Why it is better that the MS one ???
What are the differences ?
I think that one of the weakness of the MS was the poor range of pedal's
values( only 64 ). Do other pedals are more precises ?
However i like the MS pedal's shape.

HELP !!!  I want a -40 handicap ;-)

This is what ordinary people call a luxury problem. :)

If you don't dislike your MSFF stick with it, i'm still perfectly
happy with mine after 1,5 years of abuse. Button 1 and 2 disappeared
for me the other day though :(

That should be pretty easy to fix Olav (if you're familiar with using a
soldering iron and desoldering braid that is). The actual switches used in
these things should sell for like $0.20 and will take another two years of
abuse. If you feel unsure about it yourself, any reasonably skilled
electronics/ham radio hobbyist should be able to help you.

Only problem I can see is taking the wheel apart in a controlled manner.

I haven't heard about people improving significantly by switching wheels. I
have heard many positive reports about the "squash ball under the brake
pedal"-mod though. I'm about to try that myself.

yeah, i heard about this, i have some squash balls, bit i dont know where to
put it?
if i put it in the space between the brake pedal and the base, i can't push the
pedal at maximum anymore ? maybe i just need to recalibrate with the squash
ball ?

The squashball trick on the MSFF is almost too easy, just cut it in
half (beware of the oil running out of it) and put it on the base. You
don't have to fasten it with anything, it sits there by itself. Don't
calibrate with the ball in place since that would destroy the purpose
of it, but if you have calibrate, just pick it out. It takes about 10
seconds to remove and refit :)

It improved my stability under braking a lot.

Okey, i have understood the trick but don't we loose the 'pneumatic' effect if we cut
the ball ???? It's this pneumatic effect that we looking for, no ? the more you push
the brake pedal, the more its hard to push !
Anyway i'll try this tonight ! :o)

You got a point, but the space it has under the brake pedal is so
small that it doesn't work like a ball anymore, only a lump of ***,
so i guess anything could be used.

Try the whole ball first, i don't know if it fits or not, I was so
stupid I just cut it first since that was recomended here :)

I tried but, after this the pedal's travel is very short :o(

Yes Seb. That is the whole idea. By doing this, there is much less travel in
the pedal and the resistance makes it feel like a real brake pedal. In
theory you should be able to feel the point where the brakes lock rather
than guess what pedal position is required.

Don't think a different wheel would improve your time.  I improved my Monza time from
1:32 to 1:30 just by improving the max speed in the straights and quicker acceleration.
If you have breaking problem, for me, try to soften the anti-roll bar to 70.  I find that
any setting above 70 makes my Lotus "unstable" during breaking.
