NASCAR 2 QUESTION.. Will the EASY caution flag problems be fixed?

by Slick Mi » Mon, 19 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I am wandering if the problem of EASY CAUTIONS will be fixed in the
new version ? It seems now, if you just LOOK at the AI too long they
throw the caution.. :) Sorry if this is an old question, I'm just
trying not to get too caught up with the NASCAR 2 hype. Sinse the last
time a new sim was due too be released and turned out to be a DECADE
late...But I'm still curious about this fix. Thanks,
Mick

Amen. Other than the ability to abort a pitstop, this is my other
major complaint. Several times there have been cautions and I cind
myself asking what caused it. Guess it was because I rubbed doors at
Bristol. Imagine that!

The MULTI.EXE version of NASCAR used for Hawaii is *much* less sensitive to
cautions than NASCAR.EXE. I've seen cars do full 360's, slam into the wall
and damage a wheel, two cars banging together and no cautions. In some
cases, it's a little too insensitive. We had a Late Night race at Bristol
with a driver pinned against the wall facing the wrong way and no caution
flag. He tried to get turned around during a break in the traffic, but got
T-boned. That's one time when I would have preferred to see a caution.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that I think Papyrus has been
testing a lot of new ideas with MULTI.EXE, and you can probably expect to
see those ideas make it to NASCAR 2. This would include less sensitive
caution flags, the ability to abort repairs in the pits to keep from going
a lap down, and a tow truck to haul you back to your pits if you damage a
wheel.
