AI Resetting Time in Nascar Racing 2

Has anybody else noticed just how quickly the cars disappear in Nascar
Racing 2 after there has been an accident? You might be lucky if once in
every blue moon you drive around again and see the same cars still on the
track and usually that is only if the rest of the pack have smashed into the
same cars.

I'd like to be able to bang into another car, cause his car to spin, do
another lap and STILL see him in the same position as before. Do you know if
anybody has made a patch to increase the 'reset' time of the cars? If so,
could you please give me the URL, as I am really keen to have a more
realistic race.

AI Resetting Time in Nascar Racing 2

That's one of the weaknesses in the AI overall. The other day, I was passing
Earnhardt on the inside of turn 4 at C***te when his car appeared to turn
down on me. I spun off into the grass (thankfully not hitting anyone), then
got on the track again several seconds later. By that time, I was in 27th
place. A Couple of laps later, an accident happened on the back straight,
and I was able to move all the way back to 7th place from 25th. As I went by
the wreck, most of the cars were lined up in single file behind the wreck
not doing a damn thing!

Another thing that peaves me is that the leaders don't pass slower traffic
aggressively enough. They stay behind obviously slower cars. This happens on
all the tracks!

Oh well... besides that, though, N2 is still a damn great game. Its
weaknesses aside, I'm a total ***. Now if I can just get that Dover setup
right...

You're absolutely right! This does happen a lot in Nascar Racing 2 - but
then again, the same things happened in NR2 and ICR2...
