Guys

go to the Sierra forums and look at the top of the page.........Sierra
wants to know what makes a good or bad game.

now is a good time to let them know that we want GPL2 or a sports car
sim.....anything but another Nascar sim!

tell them to let Papy show their stuff!

hey, I want both Nascar and Open Wheel. They should be able to produce more
than one game a year. Heck, EA puts out more than one, so should Sierra. I
don't think that's too much to ask. They've only done 1 game a year for the
last several years, surely they could do two for once!

*** you.......let Papy put games out like EA, if they don't match up them
let us decide. If they can match the rate and keep up the quality, let them
be. I'll still buy 1 EA game a year at least........how about you Papy, is
Nascar 2003 due out next year??

Cheers

Not anymore with the layouts at Papyrus.  I guess most secondary projects
got canned for yet another Nascar title.

    WSC!

The West's knew exactly what we wanted..  Maybe Sierra could do
something similar.  The ability to create our own cars and being certified
by a legislative body (FILSCA, West's, Sierra, WSCEA, ect..)  Basically
everything the West's said.

Of course even if they decide to make only NASCAR sims, having the
ability to race more then what NASCAR allows ( Unlimited number of cars as
opposed to NASCARS maximum of 43) would be best for me! ;-)

Uh, Neil?

They're asking what makes a good *video* (console) game.  Do you really want
Papyrus to do "Phreddy Phish Goes to Ascot"?

I think he just means releasing more games, not necessarily quality-wise.

SIERRA wants to know what makes a good or bad game

No, I just think that a huge company like Sierra could release more than one
racing game a year, that's all. They cut folks from the wrong studio I
guess, but who the heck knows, there's never anything official. BTW, all
racing games from EA are not crap, just 90% of them. I like F12001 a lot.

Here's an idea that I am sure has surfaced before: Papy could do an open
source F1 project with the sim community and have a fanatstic sim in less
than a year's time. If they are so covered up on the NASCAR thing every
year, they would just have to worry about the physics tweaking and general
gameplay (what triggers a caution, etc). They already have most of the
technology there. The community could do the tracks, AI, vehicles, paint
jobs. Just think of what could be done by the GPLEA, Noonen, etc. if they
had the tools and the complete data model on paper, rather than having to
hack to get the stuff to work, on a trial and error basis. Just think of the
talent of the NASCAR community and the paint jobs they crank out.

I just think they could produce more than one game a year, that's all.

Regards, Phillip

That sound all great but, where's the money in all that?  They have to buy
milk and bread like each of us, remember :)

they make the money off of the NASCAR title and the F1 title to
non-developers. They can still sell the F1 title to everyone else, just give
out the source to people that sign non-disclosure agreements, just like with
the beta testing folks. If the testers put that out on the net, they dont
make money on the Nascar game either, right?
