Mixing Voodoo2 cards?

I have one of the original Creative Labs 12 meg Voodoo2 cards, can I run it
in SLI mode with one of the new 3Dfx (STB?) Voodoo2-1000 cards that are on
the store shelves right now?

I can't find another Creative Labs 12 megger anywhere. I think that $49.99
(re-furbished) Voodoo2 12 meg sale from Creative is over. The webpage is
gone!

Anyone know about this?

Thanks,

Sal V.

You can do it.  How you do it depends on several factors and can have varying
results.
Your safest bet is to get another CL.  Also, in theory, any V2 reference board
should work with another using reference drivers.  My experience with this is
that the theory is BS.  The metabyte wicked 3d is said to SLI with any V2 when
using metabyte drivers.
The latter is not surprising as a programmer who has just left metabyte wrote a
patch for reference drivers that allows mismatched SLI.  This patch worked for
me, but note that updates for this patch to match reference driver updates are
strictly up to the guy who wrote the program - and I think he won't be writing
anymore.  For the mismatch patch,
try here: http://home.earthlink.net/~aosnovich/

BTW - I just checked the creative site, they are listing out of stock on the
refurbs.  This has happened before and they ended up offering more later.  If I
had a CL, I would jump on it next time.

Before buying my V3 2000 I used the Q3A enabled reference drivers by 3dfx with
my Wicked3D/MaxiGamer SLI combo. Worked like a charm, so you don't have to rely
on Metabytes drivers to enable mixed SLI.

A different tack: post on the video ng that you are looking for a used
12 megger.  I was able to buy a used Creative 12M V2 from a fellow in
California for $50.  As long as you can agree that the card works,
that is...

Good luck, --mountain K
