Problems with the drivers (in GPL)are specific to the RC1 release of the
latest reference drivers from 3dfx. You should be able to add any Voodoo 2
to your existing CL as long as it has the same memory size (i.e. 12Mb to
12Mb, 8 to 8). This will save you a lot of money. I'm using two generic 12Mb
cards which were much cheaper here in the UK (I replaced my Monster 8Mb).
I initially had problems with GPL, but after downloading the latest Creative
drivers (Beta) things are working OK - although I suspect there are other
bugs in GPL with the sound etc. which cause occasional problems. I've not
tried dual SLI but I gather from various comments in this NG over the last
few weeks that it does work.
F1RS works OK, although I wouldn't personally recommend it as I consider GP2
to be far superior. I've not tried Viper of MGPRS2 but I haven't had any
problems with any other software using. The new Creative drivers (October
1998) give much better (deeper) colours than the originals, as do the latest
reference drivers from 3dfx, although as I said these don't work for me with
GPL.
Good luck
