Eldred,

What if someone wants to race with you today, and they're either new to
RASCAR or raced before but didn't do the website thing?
Thx

Well, Eldred can only go by the Sierra ID's that are posted on the
roster page.  If they haven't registered (providing their name, sierra
ID and appropriate car file), and aren't on the roster page, they simply
can't join the race.

IMHO, the line should be drawn at having the appropriate info on the
roster page no later than midnight of the friday immediately prior to
the race.  It's unreasonable to expect Eldred or myself to monitor this
stuff 24/7, and to dedicate an entire Saturday to making sure everything
is up-to-date.

Beyond (and knowing) all of that, there's always next week.

Does anyone know if these fellas are still racing?
I know some guys who'd like to use their car numbers.

Thanks

If the car shows as available in the roster, they can have it.
Otherwise, they can't.

No way this is a good idea.

Asking someone to leave a race because they are damaged?

I have picked up 20 spots before with a DAMAGED car.

Sheesh.

Of course, everyone knows (or at least assumes) that I'm speaking of
peope that are racing for position, not cars that are off the pace.
However, if a car is off the pace, I think he should maintain the high
line so that faster cars can go by on the inside...

Understood.
Can people still race without giving you a car file (yet) once they register
a Sierra ID?

Thanks - I hadn't thought of that.  It would be difficult to know what the
minimum speed should be, though.  2 seconds off the pace?  Hell, I had that
happen at Darlington this morning, and I pulled off the track.

Makes sense, but I'll give Tim a break because he ran the servers for a couple

Whether or not they can get into the server depends entirely on whether
or not they are in the roster and have provided a Sierra ID that Eldred
can add to the invite list.

They should ALWAYS race with a car with the correct number (the one they
have selected from the roster page).

Unnecessary, I ran slower than that on the long green stint, on the racing
line. Didn't make it hard for those that wanted to find a way around, but I
didn't just die for them either.

Speaking of Darlington... the default fast setup there is a widowmaker. I'll
post an alternative to the mailinglist.

I don't think we should do this.  The fast setup should be fine.  You
just gotta adapt to it, regardless of how good/bad it might be.

I'm not saying we should change the setup, I'm saying we should consider
changing it. But, if you want to veto this, that's cool with me. Heck, I'll
adapt no problem. I can race within my limits. I did so this morning and
came 4th, despite several people's best efforts to end my day early. I just
worry about the "number of caution laps"-naggers sparking yet another debate
about ability and elitism here.

Wanna take a little wager on the number of self spins out of T4? <g>
