How do I end the Practice session and go to the Qualify session???  The
manual says to hit 'Esc' and then 'Y'.  When I hit 'Esc', the prompt says to
hit 'Enter' to exit the race, which it does.

No tire temps -- how do you set camber????

As far as I can tell, you set the camber based on whether you have an
understeering or oversteering car.  In other words, negative camber in the
front fixes one problem, but too much creates another.  And so on....

I still can't figure out how to go from Practice to Qualifying to Race.
It's probably obvious, but I can't find it in the manual.

Very simple.
You practice.. Then after you end practice you go back to the screen
were you chose practice.
Change the selection Qualify.
Qualify.
After you run your qualification, go back to that screen again, select
race.
It will remember your qualification and place you in that position.
If you also look at the list of cars on the left you will see your car
is placed were ever your qualified at.
It isn't an automatic thing, you have to keep going back to that
screen to advance.

Sorry to ask the obvious, but what if you want to leave the practice
session before it's over?  It appears that you can't.  Technically you
could just ESC out of the practice session and go directly into the
qualifying session for a new race.  But that's simply a kludge.

So far I like the actual driving/racing that I've done.  It's just that
SCGT's whole interface and forced career mode seem really clumsy to me.

I actually like the career mode to earn tracks and cars thing - it's very
rewarding to me to earn something I can actually use when I race well. But,
then I liked it in TOCA, and most people hated it there.

I figured it out today.  You're tight it is simple.  I always felt like I
was 'totally' leaving a race when I ESC'd out during a practice session.  A
little clumsy on the UI's part.... :-)

PS - the 23 car in the opening video is a friend of mine.  His name is
Darryl Havens.  His team did very well at Daytona and Sebring this year.

It doesnt really matter too much either way because the game is just
WAY to easy.  I crush these guys on the hardest settings, without
changing my setup at all and starting dead last.  I mean I am lapping
the field after 7 laps - at every track.  Damn shame too because it
shows much promise but the AI is just too slow.

Press Esc then Enter, the manual was made with Version 1.28, a much older
version and the controls were different.

Tire temps patched down the road.

Yes, a "slight" oversight there. In fact no telemetry of any kind at
all (and this in one of the most technically advanced series in the
world) making it difficult to set up pretty much anything. Fortunately
it's not been necessary to tweak the setup at all (except for wet
races), the AI can be beaten fairly easily even on the top setting.

Still, it's pretty fun, and I like a lot of little touches like seeing
a cloud of tyre smoke up ahead and arriving to find someone's spun or
two cars have tangled. I'd like to see a more "sim" version of this to
see how it would develop in that direction, since it's pretty fun in
current incarnation.

Cheers!
John
