GP2 won't save races HELP

by Domagoj Malovi » Tue, 09 Jun 1998 04:00:00

I have a pent 200MMX, 64 Mb EDO, 1 dimm, FIC VIA appolo
motherboard and a 1.6 HD (pio 4) HD, where I keep my
swapfile, and the main UDMA 33 6.3 Gb disk with the game.
The OS is win95 OSR2.1, and the file system is FAT32.

I suspect the problem might be with FAT32, but I didn't want
to revert back to fat16. And the game just won't save the
race, but I think it will save the setup and all. When I try
to save a race, and press the OK button, the game just goes
back to wim95 desktop, no warning, no nothing!

Can somebody please help if there is a remedy

Yeah.....do a DOS install and run it under a reboot in DOS mode.

 I run GP2 with W95 OSR2 and Fat-32, saves work fine.

The only time I've seen gp2 crash while saving, was when my computer
was too hot (over-clocking).

GP2 seems to generate a lot of heat (be it video-card or CPU). If you
are over-clocking, this may be the cause of your crashes. GP2 also
gives your RAM a good workout. That may be the cause also.

If you are not over-clocking, just boot into W95 Dos-mode, and run
GP2 there. I do, as the frame-rate is better (and probably stresses
the computer a bit less, which is overclocked).

Anyway, if GP2 will save in Dos, it should save in W95 Fat-32 too.
