Screamer Rally - crashing problem with Pure 3D - help

by Felick » Mon, 25 May 1998 04:00:00

I have a Pure 3D installed with 6 meg ram, Cyrix 166 & 32 meg ram.
Having recently installed Screamer Rally (Screamer 3, I suppose it's
called), I find that the game crashes under Win95 after racing for
about 10-15 seconds.  I tried running it through dos and the same
thing happened using 3dfx.  When I ran it without 3dfx it didn't seem
to have any problems - apart from being damn slow.

In DOS when it crashed the numbers/data etc on screen suggested it was
a problem relating to graphics.  Could it be the extra 2 meg ram??  Is
there a patch or anything out yet?  Suggestions please.  I believe
that I have the latest driver set from Canopus.

Yeah, It can run with only 2 megs of texture ram.  It will work with pure3d
but you have to disable the extra 2 megs.

O.K.  thanks for that.  Next question - anyone have any ideas of how
to do that?  I don't remember seeing anything in the book about that -
but I have been wrong before I guess...

I sold my Pure3d a few months ago and got a Voodoo2 so my memory might be
off here but here goes.  There might be a check box in your pure3d display
option panel to disable the other 2 megs texture ram.  There is with the
Voodoo2.  If not, then you can do it in your autoexec.bat but i forget the
command.
