Here's a quick question for you:
Before I re-formatted my HDD and re-installed Win98, I backed up my
configuration files, replays, drivers, etc. for GPL. After I had
re-installed the game, I restored my backed-up files and everything seemed
to be OK. However, I notice that when I press <Esc> and then <Enter> to
return to the pits, or when I am getting back into the car after making a
change, or when I am just starting a new session, the transition screen with
the 'snow' on it takes an absolute age to go away. For example, after I have
made a change to the car setup and want to try it out, I will get 'snow' for
about 5-6 seconds, during which time I can hear the engine of the car. The
only change I made to my system setup after the format is that I am now
using generic Riva TNT drivers from NVidia instead of the Diamond Viper ones
I was using before. The NVidia drivers are the latest ones available, so
that is why I went for them.
So, after my slightly rambling problem description - it's late and I'm
tired, please excuse me - has anyone else experienced this and what can I do
about it?
My PC spec is:
PII 350
128MB RAM
Diamond Viper V550
SoundBlaster Live! Value
Thrustmaster Formula T2 (connected via the sound card).
DirectX 6.1
Win98
Any help would be appreciated.
Donal.
