I'm one of the suckers who bought Destruction Derby 2, which was fun for
almost half a minute. Much to my surprise, though, I just got a response to
a note to Psygnosis I wrote several months ago, indicating a patch is out.
Unfortunately, www.download.com indicates 0 downloads and won't let me
download it and Psygnosis doesn't haven't on their site yet. Anyone have
any better luck? Is the game actually controllable with the patch?
From Psygnosis:
Enjoy Destruction Derby 2 when you use the the multiplayer upgrade v.0.91.
This patch adds a number of new features, most notably LAN and Internet
play for up to 8 players. The upgrade also features more responsive
joystick and steering wheel support and customizable race options that
allow the player to chose the length of races and number of computer
controlled opponents. The upgrade will support between 1 and 8 players
standard, with up to 20 players as an option. Computer-controlled driver
AI has also been tweaked for "fairness," responding to customer feedback
on the aggression level of opponents in Destruction Derby mode.
Additionally, all tracks are instantly accessible, a new Trash Talk Lobby
for players to challenge their opponents, and more. All of these features
are in the multiplayer mode, and for single player, it features better
steering control for keyboard, joystick, or steering wheel. It can be
downloaded right now from www.download.com. Do a search for destruction
derby, and there it is. It will also be on www.psygnosis. com by this
with "dd2 patch" in the subject line.
