First off, do the factory driver!  You gain valuable experience, and an even
better car.  All I can say is that the car is worth it alone.  It just looks
awesome.

Second, does anybody know where I can download the other cars (959, GT2,
GT3, etc.)?

The only problem is that Factory Driver has to end.  Now that it's over, I
find myself wanting more.  The odd thing was, byt the time I got to the end,
the final race seemed pretty easy.  Guess I improved.

I agree about the Factory Driver, I love it! I've completely given up on the
Evolution lately, I'm having so much fun with Factory Driver. As to where to
get the cars, they'll be on the game's own official site,
www.needforspeed.com, and follow the links to Porsche. They aren't up yet,
but they should start soon. I would imagine that they will go up every month
or so, one at a time, but since it already says that they will be available
right in the game, they might put them all up pretty soon. I doubt it, but
we can hope :)

I've just made it to Chief Test Driver, took the GT1 around the skidpad and
now am taking the Carrera through Zone Industrielle. Is there much left? I
fear there isn't. Oh well, it should be fun to start it all over again.

There's 4 or 5 left I believe.  The most difficult one is when you have to
do the Porsche commercial.  After that is the GT1 race.

Yes, it is almost over.  I am like you however, last night I decided to
delete my driver and start over, just so I can do the Factory Driver again
:)

Hopefully EA will release some "misson packs" on their site, in addition
to new cars.  Alternately, I wouldn't be opposed to paying $10 or so for
a "mission pack" add-on, especially if it included MORE cars (the 917
comes to mind as one that I wouldn't mind paying for, especially if it
came with additional Factory Driver missions, in fact).

Hope EA is listening!

P.S.  Too bad about Purdue in the NCAA finals, JP.  :-(

(FWIW, I'm located in the Hoosier state, too -- down Indy way!)

Ok, this is starting to sound pretty interesting

How are the crashes - still same hot wheels wrecks as the other NFS's
or is there some bent metal and broken glass and fire and flying
debris and and.... ok, I'll stop.....

Where's there a demo....?

Is it just me- or do you guys hate the 'deliver this car without scratches'
missions? :)

I wish there were less of these, and more slalom courses, etc.

Overall- awesome game and game mode.

I don't mind these at all, they give a better chance to learn a course than
the short slaloms.  I just wish there were more GT1 courses at the end, that
is one fun car to drive, but at least I got a new 996 out of it.

Just picked NFS PU today, seems fun but it looks like you can connect to their servers. I signed up and tried to connect but I get a message that theres an upgrade, but it won't upgrade. Any ideas.

I drive from a***pit view, so I can't tell you about the visible damage
modeling during the race, but during the REPLAYS, you get to see sheetmetal
get bent just like in real life.  Also, there are no flying parts, but if
you roll a 911, ALL the glass will end up spider-webbed (in the replay,
anyway -- you won't notice any broken/cracked glass from the in-cockpit
  view, unfortunately).

All in all, I'd have to say BUY THIS GAME NOW!  Don't go to Best Buy,
though -- they want $44 for it, while EB has it for just $29 (BLISS!).

I have a friend with a PII-300 and a 16Mb Voodoo II.  Will he be able to
tune the detail level enough to have some fun with this?

They are still in the process of fine-tuning their server software (and
client software ?).  Rumor has it that it's a big change from their High
Stake software and should be up soon...  Until then, you will have to
find someone else on the net to race with.
