If you want to always be 2-3secs off the pace minimum each lap...
race in single-axis ;-)
(actually, with the GPL game engine you "turn" with the throttle, so
trail-braking or tapping the brakes a little while in mid-corner under
acceleration is really a must and is almost impossible to do with a
single-axis brake/gas pedal unit)
