Check out "Race Car Vehicle Dynamics" by Milliken and Milliken published by
SAE. It'll set you back $85 or so, but it seems to be the definitive book
on the subject.

Also, there is a group of us who play around with a program called RARS
which is a very simple point mass simulation of vehicle dynamics. The
source is available at ftp.ijs.com in /pub/rars (hope I got that right).
It's primarily intended as a platform for competition between programmers
attempting to write AI driver programs.

Hello,

I am currently working on a project in which I have to model in 3d
graphics the behavior of a car moving about a terrain as far as physics is
concerned. I have a simple version of it working, but I would like to do it
right so I can easily add stuff like collisions with other objects (cars, ...)
and the proper external forces on a car (braking, friction, skidding...). I
would like to just go back to basic physics using vecotrs and stuff. Does
anyone know of any resources that would give good insight on how to properly
do all this on a computer? tia.

The Milliken and Millken book _Race_Car_Vehicle_Dynamics_ is the
definitive academic text, and its worth every penny of its $85; or if you
can borrow it from your local library.

Also, another book that is quite useful, though not as exhaustive, is
_Race_Car_Aerodynamics_ -- Designing for Speed, by Joseph Katz.  It's
published by Robert Bentley Publishers, and it's $34.95.

Enjoy!

There's a great article on the www called
