COUNTER STEERING IN GP2

I'M USING A CH FLIGHTSTICK FOR STEERING GAS AND BRAKING.  IT SEEMS
THAT WHEN THE CAR BEGINS TO OVERSTEER, COUNTERSTEERING DOESN'T SEEM TO
WORK.  THE ONLY RECOVERY APPEARS TO BE BRAKING, BUT THAT DOESN'T SEEM
VERY REALISTIC.

IS IT ME (I'M TOO SLOW) OR AN OPTION I'M NOT AWARE OF OR THE DRIVING
MODEL?  COUNTER STEERING SEEMS TO WORK IN WC AND INDYCAR.  ANY
COMMENTS?

Maybe it's that your copy of Grand Prix II doesn't like caps lock and this is
its way of protesting against it?

Here here. Try not to SHOUT, IT GETS VERY ANNOYING. :-/

Back to the point. I have the same setup and counter steering does work for
me. You've got to be quick and you've got to take your *foot* off the
throttle (just like a real car - counter steering doesn't do much if you're
flooring the throttle - you'll still spin). If you're still having
problems, play with the advanced settings and increase your steering lock.
It makes for some very interesting driving.

You need to turn on opposite lock help in the advanced controller
setup options.

I use our TSW steering wheel and pedals and I find it easy to correct
oversteer most of the time as long as I react soon enough, if you let
the car get too far you most likely will have to hit the brakes.

There's an option in the advanced control menu called "opposite
lock help."  It will automatically countersteer for you when
the car gets out of shape.  I have found that the car is very
hard to catch without this option enabled, but it seems to
offend the driving purists of the group.  Makes for some really
fun powerslides!

I looked at some logged data when using this help.  At the point
on the course where I got loose, the steering degree trace
suddenly jumped to 35 degrees, even though I had the total lock
set to 25 degrees.

Also, I have found that slides are easier to catch when the front
sway bar is set to full stiff and the rear bar set to 150-300 lb/in,
accompanied with full stiff front springs and rear springs around
1000-1100 lb.  This suits my driving style, though, and may not work
for you since mid-corner speed suffers somewhat.
