F1RS with Cyrix and 3DFX: Bad Choice

I have Cyrix 6x86MX 233 with Monster 3D and I must say that frame rates are
not as good as Pentium MMX's. I just put my friend's Intel Pentium 233 MMX
on my mobo and this is what I've found out.

At the race start in traffic it's choppy with my Cyrix and smooooooth with
my friend's Pentium MMX. First I thought it's Cyrix's low frequency
( 187.5 ) compared to Pentium 233 MMX so I set Intel to 187.5 and it was
still noticably smoother.

Is this another Quake syndrom? Will there be a patch to solve this or I must
just live with it?

Any cyrix users have more on this? AMDers too!!!

says...
Intel chips still have an advantage over Cyrix and AMD chips.
Intel chips are better at floating point calculations. Simulations
are supposed to use floating point calculations and therefore Intel
chips tend to run them a little better.

It the slow floating point on the Cyrix. I had the same problem with TOCA and my
Cyrix 6x86 200+/R3d combo. Everytime the was lots of stuff to display it just
went into jerkovision - yet on a 200MMX or a K6-200 it was very smooth. K6 was
noticably slower than Intel, but light years ahead of the Cyrix (even when
overclocked).

It's the same with Quake. My dad's 200MMX is between 40 and 100% faster in Quake
(not 3dfx). It just has to be the floating point.

It's time to start saving and get an 233MMX
