RT demo & Thrustmaster FF issues

I've got the Rally Trophy demo installed and it runs great, for a while...

I can get in 1 run, sometimes 10 runs, but eventually when I back off the
gas the throttle control just sort of stops (like a throttle cable break on
a real car).  I can restart the stage and maybe get 2000 rpm in 1st but
that's it (the steering also goes super sensitive).  Restarting the game,
rebooting, recalibrating the wheel doesn't help.

I've got a Thrustmaster Ferrari FF wheel, I was running the 2.0.16 drivers,
I upgraded to 3.08 but it made no difference and I lost the separate axis
feature for the pedals, so I removed them and went to the 2.1.11 wheel
drivers (still no difference).

I installed DX8.0 it made no difference.  I'm running Win98SE

Any ideas?

Anybody got this wheel with the final release of RT yet?

You can get split-axis with the 3.08 drivers by creating a Thrustmapper
profile and choosing the 2nd tab.  Now select split-axis.

My problem with the 3.08 drivers was that the TMFF disappeared from
*** Options when I added my Act-Labs shifter.  Maybe a reinstall of
WinME will fix it, but I don't want to do that just yet.

Jason.

But I don't want Thrustmapper at all, I just want the updated drivers that
are included in them!  Do you mean creating a profile within thrustmapper or
a device profile like XP(?) does?  Remeber I'm running Win98.

I had a hell of a time when I installed it at all, it added another joystick
device to my PC instead of updating the drivers for the existing one.  When
I removed it, windows Plug & Pray kept "discovering" new hardware and adding
the 3.08 drivers even though I had the same hardware as before I installed.

If you create a "general" setup using Thrustmapper and choose
split-axis, it seems to remember it.  You don't need to have
Thrustmapper running to get split-axis, but need to configure the
controller at least once.  Please beware that this was done with limited
testing because I quickly moved back to the 2.0.16 drivers.

Yes you have to create a profile within Thrustmapper to get split-axis
working with the 3.08 drivers.  I'm on WinME so it should be the same as
Win98.  I don't remember how to get TMapper started, but just choose the
2nd tab and you'll see the split/combined option.

And you say you want these new drivers? ;)

When I used the 3.08 drivers, turning the wheel on/off when in the
*** Options screen would keep adding the wheel to id#2 then #3, 4, 5,
6.  I was thinking a reinstall might have helped clear it up, but you're
having similar problems.

I'd recommend staying with the older drivers for now and hope the RT
problem is just in the demo.  I'll be getting the full version when it
comes out so I can get the guinea pig :)

Jason.

Only if I have to ;)  I had problems with the 2.1.11 drivers when they came
out so I'm running 2.0.16 which work fine in GPL or N3 but I have to
re-calibrate every boot (minor pain).

I can't remember what screen I was on at the time, but even after I deleted
3.08 and thrustmapper next time I turned on the PC it discovered my
controller so I had 2 sets with 2.1.11 drivers (of course all the games
looked for the original)
I'll be waiting for your post ;)
