F1GP (The First One)) Processor occupancy...

by Regis L » Sat, 16 Dec 1995 04:00:00

I've got 2versions of F1GP 1. Yes, the first one (bought it at first
release) runs fine on my 386 DX 40 (no track texture, of course...) ;
The second one (in the T2 package...v1.05) runs fine on my P100...
As this last version enable direct-link game, I installed the 1.05 on
my 386 for a 2 players game...
BUT, does anyone knows why the 1.05 use about 200% of processor
occupancy (even in local game) where the older version were 100% with
same details level...?

Your problem lies in the 386 affecting the occupancy on your p100.
To stop problems like slowing down of graphics you have to run at no
more than 11 fps.

Your problem is the game will only run as fast as the 386, and so shows
a large occupancy level on your P100.
You have to run the game at no more than 11.5 fps, you should find
the O is around 25% on the P100 and about 80% on the 386, this of course
will vary depending on the graphics cards used. This will also stop
graphic slow down when you enter the pits or if in a multi-player game
when the change over occurs between cars.
In a multi-player game DO NOT USE GPlaptim as I've found you get data
mismatch errors when you Q cars in the pits.
