SCGT - Q's me up......

Having great fun with this - really intense - I love being real close to
the car in front for many laps at a time, and with any mistake comes the
loss of 3-4 places. Keeps you concentrating.

Of course everything is set on hard with the physics patch and all that
jazz..
Anyway I never see my headlights when driving at night, only from an
external view, even though I press 'H' to turn the ***s on and off. Any
ideas ?

Also do you ever get to race on the tracks at night and during the rain
during career mode ? Maybe on GT1 level ?

I found the same trouble on Need For Speed III - the program seems to
expectyou to drive blind through tunnels and at night you may as well give up.

NFS rubs salt in the wound by giving you a "main beam" function - but makes
not
the slightest difference.

Is there some way to remedy this? When programming "Quake" it was reported
that it took John Cash 60 minutes to program dynamic lighting effects that
light up the surroundings as a rocket passes down a corridor or cave. Is the
rest
of the *** industry really still in the "dark ages"?

The single biggest factor preventing me from buying SCGT is the fact that its
from the same company that published NFSIII.

I'm not sure if you're aware of the history of the project, but most of its
life, it was "Professional Sportsccar Racing" from *** Interactive.  Don't
know if that affects your bias or no. I really like SCGT, and really don't like

How many were involved with the game. I notice a lot of Westwood signs around the
SCGT tracks.

I noticed that, too - strange - ISI must be big C&C fans or something, cause
I'm not sure what Westwood has to do with the game.

In SCGT this is
a) a bug
b) some idiotic feature
c) a shortcut, the developers were in hurry

though I can live with it. Turn the gamma to max and if you're not racing
in Sebring Octoberfest at night and in rain, you should be successful
enough in negotiating your way through the curves at all times.

For NFSIII there is definitely a patch (not from EA, IIRC) to remedy the
situation. The patch allows you to use headlights on every single track,
night or day, not only in the night races in expert mode, as was the case
originally, IIRC (it's been a while, my memory may fail me).

As it happens, I don't remember where I got the patch from and it seems I
haven't bookmarked the site either but you should be able to find it
easily enough from the net. In case you can't I can always send it to you
by email (if you reply, be sure to remove the "spamwall" suffix from the
address).

and it's fairly strange that the headlights don'y work, when you see the
headlight of a car passing you creep by, alltyhough I don'y think the
limited range of those lights would do much to help.
