Junk? It is far from junk! I said I have a few "niggles" with F1 2000
and hopefully they will fix those problems in the next version. There
is no better contemporary F1 sim on the market right now though.

Hehe..

Why some sort of 3DFX card? F1 2000 doesn't even have a glide mode.

P3 500 is considered mid-range now. And it will ruin F1 2000 fine if
you sacrifice some details in the game.
Didn't I see I have a few "niggles" with it?
--
Nos
Because at first people with 3dfx cards were reporting fewer
graphics problems and issues than other card mfr's.

Upside out, or inside down...False alarm the only game in town.

Nope, I should just stop typing with my thumbs and learn to use my
fingers instead. :-)

While I do like the game, I still have *** problems with the AI even with
1.06 and 100-120%. Sometimes it can get quite annoying when not hot
lapping.

Right, you just have to worry about decent games that can use
decent driving gear (like the LWFF) :-)

To answer the original question is a very risky business here at the moment,
some like F1 2000, some F1RS or its successor MGPRS2 while others prefer GP2
even though it's 5 years old. I feel they all have their good and bad
points, just depends on what you are looking for in a sim. I own all 4, the
one currently on my HD is F1 2000 though many here will be using one of the
other titles and having as much fun.
A quick rundown
GP2 oldest of the contenders, many people still feel its the best, has a
good driving feel, many helps for the novice racer, the graphics are the
main letdown. Still needs a monster PC to run at full graphics with no
slowdown.
F1RS / MGPRS2 Very little difference between these games except for official
license for first and online multiplay for 2nd. Runs smoothly and looks nice
on a reasonable PC, driving model is pretty good but does suffer from some
unrealistic effects when driving over the limit (IMO)
F1 2000 Models the current F1 season and drivers, has the most realistic
feeling physics engine in the group (again IMO) needs a monster PC to run
well and has a few bugs which need ironing out such as the AI which can be a
bit silly at times
That was just a quick run through, I have probably missed many / good bad
features from each sim.
The only outright winner (IMO) is GPL which does very little wrong and is
generally acknowledged as the current best sim available, downside is it's
very difficult to become competitive, will take over all your spare time and
if you pay for online time by the minute will quickly annoy your bank
manager should you ever even consider the word VROC <G>
Oh yes, it models 1967 F1 racing so if it's modern F1 you want I guess this
aint your game :)
It isnt available on PSX <G>
