Can't get gas/brake to work in GPL

I have a Thrustmaster Grand Prix 1 analog wheel.  In most games I have no
trouble getting gas and brake to be set up with the y axis, but with this
game it won't detect my movements when I try to set gas and brake.  Anyone
have any ideas on this?

Paul,
I think with the old GP1 you have to setup in your game
controller a 'custom' setup for split axis and the buttons
but sadly it has been so long I forget the setup? Call the
TM's 800 support # and they might be able to help? Its
free atleast!

Also the usual reminder. You have to calibrate first. Then assign controls.
