Gas and brake wont work

by Kasparo » Sun, 02 Nov 1997 04:00:00

For some reason I cannot get my racing sims to work  using the brake and gas
with my Formula T2.  The steering wheel works fine but there is no response
from the brake and gas!!!  When I calibrate the wheel while having it
connected to my MonsterSound gameport,  the brake and gas work and calibrate
fine along with the steering wheel but when I go to play racing sims, the
gas and brake do not respond. I also have installed a Thrustmaster ACM
gamecard.  When I plug the steering wheel into the ACM the status within my
joystick port icon says that it is "unplugged" or "not connected".  If I
remove my T2 and then plug my FlightStick Pro it says the status is "OK"
even though it is not a steering wheel.  I can calibrate and use the
Flightstick with my ACM without a problem.  Howcome I cannot get my T2 to
work correctly???

I would seem that this problem showed up some time after I installed DirectX
5. I also installed that Thrustmaster joystick control program but that
reacts the same way as the DirectX 5 joystick panel does.
Another thing that has been confusing me is when I switch back to using the
ACM card,  I have to select the device driver. In the window it shows the
MonsterSound Gameport and the other option is Standard Gameport.  Is this
correct???  Should it say something about the Thrustmaster gameport?

To sum up,  My steering wheel works fine but my brake and gas do not respond
when playing sims. However, they do respond when I am in the calibrating
session and plugged into the MonsterSound game port.  Only when I have the
T2 connected to my MonsterSound gameport does the status on the T2 appear
"OK"  If  I connect it to my ACM it says "unplugged" and I cannot calibrate
it. I am having this problem with all my racing sims.  ICR2, Nascar2 and
GP2, along with the CPR demo.

PLEASE HELP!!!  I want to be able to use my brake and gas with the CPR demo.
I did not use to have this problem.....

System specs:
DirectX 5 installed
SuperMicro P5 STE 512 cache
MonsterSound
AWE 32 non PnP joystick port disabled.
Monster 3d
Sierra Screaming 3d
64 MB of EDO
etc....

FRUSTRATING isn't it.

I wish Thrustmaster, Microsoft and ............ could sort this s..t
out. Wouldn't it be nice if you just popped the new CD into your
CD-ROM-drive and took off with your new game, what ever it is?

I am getting fed up with all the problems you run in to with PC-games!

Gas and brake wont work

I might add that this problem does not exist under DOS so I know it is a
Win95 or DX5 problem.

My ACM gamecard will detect and work properly with any joystick but when I
connect my T2 with the adapter,  it says "unplugged" and/or "not connected"

Please help.
