F1RS and F1 wheel

by Robert » Sat, 25 Apr 1998 04:00:00

Having problems configuring the wheel in F1RS.  I have checked the
calibration in Windows and everything checks out. Once in the game
configuration screen the steering is correct, but i am unable to select
the wheel paddles for braking and acceleration. It will not allow me to
select anything but keyboard commands.
Any help solving this would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,
Robert L.

You should be close to getting there.  In order to select some of the
axis for braking and acceleration, you first need so select something
else.  If you are trying to select an option that is already assigned to
something else, you can not select it for another controlling option.
You must first select something you don't want to use and then free up
the the ones that were already assigned.  Then you should be able to
select anything you want.  But I found even this is a little
problematical at times.  I had to go through this process a couple of
times before I got the buttons to be accepted for shifting.

Also you may want to use Thrustmaster's ProPanel applet to calibrate
your wheel in Win95 first.
ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/propanelv11.exe

You may not have the proper options set in the game controller setup.
Hopefully the ProPanel will help out.

You can do it like this: Set the braking and acceleration to the keyboard,
quit the game, restart it, and set them to the paddles and quit again.
Restart and everything should work.

Btw, the best F1RS site there, allso where I found the solution to your
problem:

I never had to quit and restart the game, just reset everything to
keyboard,
then configure your wheel...
