GP2: slow simulation!

by AndrĂ© Perro » Thu, 29 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I have GP2 since couple of days, i like when i run it with no opponents. In
a race simulation the OC are very slow specially in corners, the frame rate
is very slow.
I have to put almost all detail off in VGA to get a 25 frs.

Someboday have a suggestion to improve performance or this is a bug!!

My system

486 dx/4 100mhz
16 meg ram
ati mach 32 vlbus

Do we need a Pentium 400 !%&?*&/ to run this Game?

HI, i have the system; GP2 need a Pentium 200 to be fast !!!

And on Monaco, even a P200 is not enough !!!!

Try to use about 19 fps, then you will be able to have almost all
details on VGA for a DX4-100
With 19 ffs, it is really payable...

Try a Non-ATI video card.

a 486 just does not cut the cheese with this game.  GP2 seems to be one of
the first racing games to be a TRUE simulator, by saying that i mean that
the game simulates a true f1 racing car (take a look at all of the stats in
the game!)..

i have heard that there was an interview with a mechanic for one of the f1
teams and he said that if someone had handed him a printout from f1gp2, he
would have thought it was real.

perhaps geoff should have had an option for arcade/sim mode to make it less
cpu intensive, but then i guess that might ruin in overall..

cheers,
chris

(Andr Perron) says...

25fps on a 486/100? You'd better drop fps to 15.
