If anyone can point me to where I can get a serial to USB adapter for
my TSW I would appreciate it. TSW no longer makes or sells them.
Please respond here and I will get back with you.

Hello Dirt,
I used a rockfire *gameport* to USB adapter with mixed results for a
while. Your best bet (if you plan to continue using your TSW) would be
to convert the wheel to USB yourself using a Plasma Lite v2 board.
I don't know of any serial versions of the TSW, so sorry I cannot help
you there.
Cheers, uwe

Thanks. I may have misspoken. It would almost certainly be a
gameport-to-usb adapter that I need, not serial-to-usb.
I may investigate the Rockfire as my best alternative. TSW will rewire
it for me, but it'll cost $150 plus $30 shipping each way. Not cheap.
What specific problems did you have with the Rockfire? I have 50k ohm
Spectra pots in the TSW now. Could that be a problem (too little
resistance)?

The TSW adapter is (or was) a Rockfire. They also sold some converter
you could use for the 50k Ohm spectral pots, but that just a
condensator for each axis...something you could build yourself.
I'll recommend Uwe's suggestion, get the Plasma lite.
Cheers!

Hi Dirt,
my main gripe with the rockfire was that the conversion resulted in
really low-res resolutions on both the steering and pedal axes, even
when using hi-spec pots. I think I got 64 separate values on the pedals
and around 100 "notches" (there's really no other way to call it ;-) on
the steering axis.
I ended up buying a plasma lite v2 board, converted just the TSW pedals
to USB, dumped the TSW wheel and replaced it with a Momo DFP, so now I
have a 2-controller setup (DFP on #1 for the wheel, TSW pedals on #2 for
throttle and brake).
Mind you the plasma lite v2 isn't cheap, but you'll have all sorts of
expansion possibilities with it later if you want to build your own
***pit, for example.
All the best, uwe

He won't like the Plasma Lite or the Rockfire? I was looking at the Plasma
Lite to build my own wheel/controller.

Have you built your own wheel/controller or have you just done the mod to
the TSW?
Good documentation from the Plasma people?

Both documentation and support (by email, say) have been excellent.
While the board is not exactly cheap (around $80 CDN I believe, plus
postage) it's well worth the money IMO, given the countless axes, nobs,
twisters and other thingies that can be connected (I only use two inputs
for the pedal axis at the moment).

The cost is not that high, plus I'm in Canada so the postage won't be bad.
Cheers
