So Exactly *** WHAT *** is Up with PDPI / Act Labs ??? Does Anybody Know ???

by pa.. » Thu, 16 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Just dropped back in here after a long absence ...

Has anybody visited PDPI's site ???   Is it just me, or is it
confusing, or what ???

They mention a deal with Act Labs, but there is nothing on Act labs
site mentioning it ...

They mention that they will have a new Act Labs RS rig available today
for ordering from them and their "distributors" ...    but no links or
mention of distributors ...

They don't mention the Act Labs Force RS, or the RS Shifter at all ...

They *** STILL *** show a 60 day waiting period for orders placed ...

They have been showing that since about last October ...

Has anybody *** EVER *** gotten the PDPI cards they ordered ???

They don't seem to respond to e-mail ...

Does anybody know what is going on with them ???   Is their product
really worth it ???   What eve happened to Jason who posted here
frequently and was part of the deal and said this partnership was
going to be the greatest thing for simulators since canned beer ???

Anybody have any sort of clue ???

Thanks ...

All that I know is that if anybody wants to order a PDPI card, they can
order it directly from ACT LABS for now.  It isn't on the website but in
North America you can call (800) 980-9997 & order one from Raymond.  As an

But are they in stock, or is there a "60 day waiting period" ???

Do they work with the Force RS and the RS shifter, or not ???

And ...   Is this particular set-up the "new" tech stuff they talk
about on the PDPI web-site ???

1. The deal has only recently been reached... We are manufacturing the card
as we speak... The ETA for shipment is mid-April.

2. The Force RS is a Serial/USB device... it won't work with the PDPI game
port device.  The standard RS wheel works with the PDPI card using a special
cartridge. The special cartridge does not support the RS Shifter at this
time.

3. That part will have to be fully answered by PDPI... As far as I am aware,
this is not related to the "new" tech stuff on their web site.

I have just confirmed that you can order online at
www.act-labs.com/pdpi_l4.htm.  We are accepting backorders at this time &
will ship as soon as we are able!

All I know is that I cancelled my order, fwiw.  First told 60 days.
Then have to badger them until I'm told now it's April.
I'm not going to wait until April to be told to wait another time
period, let alone not getting told this in the first place without
contacting _them_.
  They should have contaced me.

I have no idea what's going on overthere any more. Three weeks a go I
got a email telling me that I would hear about my order within a week. I
still haven't heard a thing. I ordered back in Oct. I sure hope this
card is all it's cracked up to be. And I really hope so since apparently
it's now being made by ActLabs. A new manufacturer could***things up
real  easily.

Hello everyone,

On behalf of ACT LABS I would like to clear up some of the confusion
regarding PDPIs L4 cards and the backorder situation. We have decided
to help PDPI by manufacturing the L4 cards and supplying the backlog
of orders that they havent been able to fill as of yet. At this time
we are trying to contact everyone that has placed an order with PDPI
and let them know what to do and what to expect from the arrangement
with ACT LABS.

I would like to point out that there will be a very short wait before
you will get your L4s as they are in production now and we need time
to produce them and ship them to our warehouses. We expect to have the
cards available by April 20th and fully understand your frustration.

Please bear with us and be rest assured that your cards are coming
soon. If you are on the backorder list from PDPI and have not been
contacted yet, you will be soon. You can however contact

can call 1-800-980-9997 to place your order or find out further
information. I would like to point out that PDPI is still covering any
technical support issues and can be reached by calling them directly.

Regards,

Stuart Galloway

Would this be the same ACT LABS that shipped my Force RS
a mere eight months after I ordered it?

Well, I ordered mine and got it with 7 days. Nothing to complain here.
They also answered all my e-mails the next day. Not a lot of companies
can brag about that...
