GP2 Some more info

Hi,

I had the chance to drive about 5 laps at the BEXA show in Jhb South Africa and let me tell you, Indycar2 is
no patch to this in any way. I had a chat to the export manager of Microprose and according to him the release
date will be 27th June. The network patch will not be a free upgrade (only a small charge to cover media or
something like that) and they will be looking at xmas96 for the release of the patch.

They were demoing it on a P133 and when i pressed 'O' the CPU usage said 126%. All detail was switched on
except the texture on the road and something else (I couldn't see it, he skipped through it to quick :( ).
There will be pitstop strategy now which you can set but no radio chatter from the pit in the sound :( The
reason he said was because they were porting it to to many languages that it will take to much space and time
(think what you want). The option in Indycar2 where you can set random system failures is also there just much
better :) You can choose between about 7-8 options of what you want to be unrealiable (throttle+fuel,
suspension, engine, tires etc.)

The game: The only gripes that i have is that the frame rate needed some work still and that there was far to
many crashes during the game (car crashes that is). On all the starts that i've seen (5-6 including mine)
there was a crash at the start and during the game also you keep getting messages that this and that guy is
out of the race. Maybe it was because we were racing quick start that the game do this to beef things up but
if it will be like that during a season then you might have a problem. The crashes however are spectacular.
The one guy spinned in a chicane right in front of me. He's car hit the curb and he was airborne and send
flying and then he hit the wall. Great stuff to watch. I also saw a engine that blew in one of the replays,
there was smoke pouring out of the back of the car and it just looked great. A Thrustmaster T1 is a must buy
for this game. The cars, needless to say looks like the real thing - sponsor stickers the works but all the
***pits look the same, sorry Ferrari fans.

27th of June is D-Day.
Cheers
Christo
