Oh, boy, don't I feel honored....
My very first problem with Nascar2...sometime today, I downloaded
fastlap97,
and when I tried to run it, it told me I didnt have the correct
version,,,so,,,I went to sierra's site, and downloaded the version
upgrade patch...ran it, and had to get several files off the original
disk, since I had installed other patches which had altered some
of them...anyway, it all worked fine afterwards, and I started playing
with setups, and changing car bodies, so I could get my best lap figured
out, when All of a sudden, right after I switched bodies for the last
time, and went back to race, it did a few STRANGE things,,,for one, it
told me that it could not find T_player.car ...it also was trying to
read from a driver list called "none". anyway, I tried all three of my
valid driver lists, and my name was nowhere to be found...I clicked
"race" anyway, and it gave me the error on that screen, too "could not
find T_player.car" also, on this screen, while this error message was
up, you could see the driving mode selection, and it said "Simulation"
instead of the usual "realistic" or "arcade" modes. I thought this was a
bit odd, especially since when I clicked "OK" on the error message, the
word "simulation" disappeared, and left you to choose "arcade or
realistic" once again. Twice,,,I have taken the original T_PLAYER file
from the cd, and reinstalled it in my cars directory, and repainted
something which vaguely resembles my old car (wish I had made a copy of
it somewhere) and TWICE, it has been deleted forever from the game and
the computer (without a trace, I might add, I did a COmplete search)
any suggestions???? it's probably one of those stupid little things I
personally overlooked somewhere, but
I need some H>E>L>P LOL :)
