how far this series has come since its inception. Neither F1 2000, nor F1
2001 CS held my attention for long, but with this title, EA Sports has
addressed most of the issues I had with the prior installments. The force
feedback is superb once you get it tweaked properly. The AI is the best
I've seen in a modern F1 simulation - no more Kamakazi drivers looking to
rear end you at every opportunity. They drive as though they are fully
aware of your presence and seemingly make allowances for your "erratic"
behavior.
Anyway, now that I'm fairly comfortable with car handling, I'm looking to
find some online action. Thus far it seems like the online scene is pretty
dead. I have Relay Client and have joined the F1 2001 community there, but
there seems to be no more than a half dozen racers online at any given time.
Also, I'm finding that the action in muliplayer races is a bit jumpy. It's
hard to race against cars whose positions are only being plotted about twice
a second. Maybe it was the quality of the connections I've had thus far or
maybe its the software, I don't know.... even with "green" connection
quality, I've had problems with this. So far, the biggest race I've joined
had 5 cars in it, and it was chaotic because others were having the same
problem.
As good as F1 2001 is offline agains AI drivers, I'd still like to have the
option of going online and racing other humans. Are there other
alternatives out there to Relay Client?
Thanks,
John Cauthen (aka "SyDonia")
