Rally Championship, How good?

Has anyone bought Rally Championship?  The graphics look almost as good
as Sega Rally and it scored 83% in PC Gamer.  Is it a sim or another
Screamer/Fatal Racing.

It's halfway between the two IMO. I've had the game for a week now and I'm
gradually getting used to the way the cars handle. I'd say the handling is
more realistic than Sega Rally but it's far from perfect. As a rule of
thumb I reckon if you like Need For Speed, you'll like Rally Championship.

The graphics are great, it won't run full detail smoothly on my P100 but
drop the detail a notch and all is silky.

Rally Championship, How good?

The graphics are very good and give a good impression of travelling at speed, I haven't seen Sega Rally so I can't say how they compare.  The game has several modes of play, an
Arcade mode with other cars on the track and the stages split into several sections which have to be completed in a set time to carry onto the next section.  An Individual mode where
you can select what stage to race on, you can choose to have opponents what type of weather.   A Time trial mode, here the options are fixed, but you can setup the car by selecting the
right type of tyres, suspension settings and gear settings, these are not as complex as F1GP2 but do make a difference to the car.  The final mode is Championship, in this mode you
start at stage 1 and work through the full 28 stages.  You are only allowed to service and repair the car at set points during the rally just as in the real thing, sometimes your tyre and
setup choices have to be a compromise because you will have to use them for sevral stages.  The game is therefore a sim to a certain extent but can be a pure arcade game if thats
what you want.  The game installed under Windows95 and runs under Windows95 without problems on my P120 system, it will also run under Dos.  I can highly recommend the game
to people wanting an arcade racer and anyone wanting a rally sim.
