WSC : Newest Screenie !

Chris West just gave me these screenshots, they are all brand new, take a LOOK. Aren't they rather nice ? More will come soon,
hopefully some***pit ones and more from Brands Hatch. Would like to thank Chris and Tony for these, brilliant work they are doing
:)

You can also access all other screenies from the WSC screenshots section.

Seems that some rumors started around, some people meeting people of Empire at the E3, basically they were told that WSC would be
out only in May 2002. I spoke to Chris West of West Racing and he mentioned he was the last one to hear about it. So guys, it's
totally false, so for now WSC is still due at the end of this year, until further notice.

Did Chris West tell you that it would be out at the end of the year?  I'm
not trying to be dense here, just looking for confirmation.

One very major concern.

We're SEVERAL years in to this project - and one assumes this release of
screenshots is showing as much as they can at this point in time.

Why only 6 cars?

Panoz, Lotus x 2, Fer. 333, Sauber, and Something else.

Are they really having that much difficullty with manufactureres?

Are you really surprised that they would be having problems with
manufacturers?  I'm not.  The lawyers are probably involved, so that
means there's gonna be problems.

Hopefully, they'll provide us with a method for designing/including our
own favorite cars, and they won't have to worry about the licensing
issues for cars *we* do.

Eric,

It's been more then 2 years, and all we have are screen shots. Since
you can talk to Chris West, what ever happened to the promised demo that was
susposed to be released after last years E3 expo?  And when are we going to
get a demo so that we can test out the physics. Afterall, screen shots are
one thing, but don't really have much to do with the actual sim.

I still remember all those screen shots from the Trans-Am and Skip
Barber sims that got canceled.

This astounds me!

You all complain about how nothing comes forward and that you all want new
screen shots, etc... and then as soon as they appear, rather than saying
"WOW! they look great"  (which they do!!), everyone just says "yeah, but why
can't we have this, that and the other"...

If I were Chris and Tony, I would not be that inspired to bring you more
things to look at, as there has been no real support shown for what they
HAVE brought you.

If I were them in fact I would do the commercial thing of just keeping it
all to themselves until a month before the release and not answer another
email about it.

COME ON??!??!  Show a little support!  These guys are working *** this
project.  They do not owe us anything, so anything we get is a bonus and a
display of the importance they place on keeping the sim community informed
and "in the loop".

In terms of licenses...
Bare this in mind...

These things tend to happen at the very last minute.  The only difference
is, most games only release screen shots, etc at the very last minute, so
all the licenses are already signed.

Don't mean to rant, but we really should offer a bit more support as this
sim will be around for a very long time, so a few months is not a big deal.

All the best

Simon

Hi Gault, what I do know (and yes I speak to Chris everyday) is Chris almost
fell off his chairs when some folks at Empire told few people in a Hotel hall
that it was due in May 2002... It's possible they said that to calm down those
who are counting the days... I dunno.? So far nothing has changed, it's the end

of the year... upon further notice

Hi Dougy :0) The reason why we're only seeing only 6 cars is very simple, right

now these guys have 18 cars built, Tony is working on more... The reason comes
from Licencing issues that are taken care by Empire (it's there work). Many of
them are in discussion or almost in terms of agreements.. Same goes to other
tracks as well.

?
hi Joel, been a long time :)? All I can say, the West Bros has invest so much in

this (won't tell details) that they will pursue there dreams, as for answers of
delay, well a big one comes from not finalized licencing with cars manufacturer
and tracks owner, and also from the fact that with DX8 , the wait is worth it.
There's so much they can do with it, including all the bells and whistles of
d3d, direct sounds and direct voice (online play)..

you guys dont think the manufacturers and lawyers would be unhappy with a
game that allowed any old joe to recreate one of their cars?

i cant see this 'build realistic cars' thing being in the game if its got
licenses as well.

The only thing I could see possibly happening as a reuslt of allowing us
to build our own cars is that they would withhold licensing to the point
where no cars could be delivered with the game.  The car manufacturers
could also put pressure on the track owners not to cooperate as well,
which could result in a lot fewer tracks being included in the game.
