Remember Mike,  My teachers said there is no such thing as a stupid
question....(!!)
What you are seeing is carried over from at least F1 2001.  Even If you
are more 90 degrees sideways you will still see the cars behind you as if
you were pointed correctly down the track.(provided the car is within your
rear field of view which seems to be defined NOT by the orientation of the
car but rather it's place on the track)
Consider it a flaw or perhaps just a hack to keep frame rates up.  If I
remember correctly, ICR2 didn't really display a real rearview in the
mirrors,  they just had about a thousand car bitmap files that could
approximate on the mirror where the cars behind you were.
I think it was DGF who found that in N2002, if you turned your car 180
degrees and faced the wrong way on a track, you could still only see a short
distance, just like the view in the mirror fades out quickly...You could see
for a mile or more facing to the front, but the rear view even when facing
backwards was much shorter.
Anyhow back to your picture.....if you are trying to re-enter the track
after looping the car into the kitty litter, are you watching the track or
your mirrors?

They give me refunds here in the UK.

That's right, you should march in there and DEMAND to be arrested on the
spot...lousy stinking consumer thief Baggins...(oops)  After all if you
hadn't stolen the money in the first place the corporation would already
have it right?   lol.......!!

Hehe :). The thing is, I don't really care what there policy is as I'm
protected by my consumer rights. I reject things if they are not up to
scratch. I may buy GP4 just so I can take it back and complain about it.

They are the same company in name only - the original EB only own 20
percent of the "EB" in the UK.

And so we go back to Crammond, does anyone else remember "Revs"?
In that game, if you drove the wrong way round the track (against traffic)
you'd still be looking at the gearboxes of the other cars, as they came
round, not their noses.

The EB in the UK is not the same EB as that in the US.  US EB sold UK EB to
GAME some time ago.  So UK EB has really been GAME, and now all the UK EB
stores are being refitted as GAME stores, or closed (delete as applicable).

To be fair, REVS wasn't running on the most powerful of machines, was it?

Yes, more could possibly have been done - but it would have taken more
memory / processor power - which was probably already dedicated to actually
making the game possible!!

applicable).

As I recall, it was the other way round...

UK EB was effectively a franchise... it was paying US EB for the right to
use the name, but was otherwise a separate company... UK EB bought out
GAME... they then decided they wanted to drop the EB tag, so as to avoid
paying US EB... as UK EB already owned GAME, and GAME was still an operating
trade name, they have been in the process of rebranding everything to
GAME...

hi tony
are you racing T-cam view ?
yet the mirrors are useful to you...hmmm

I kinda of like that since T-cam view
gives a good compromise to 2D monitor screen
for the 3D sense of play

I used to use the "lookback" view in F1 2000
which on second pressing returns me to the
previous view but not in GP4
It is not very intuitive to use.

To be fair, F1 2002 *is* running on the most powerful of machines :D
Cheers for missing the point entirely ;o)

No I am using the***pit view. I just noticed the mirrors looked more
useful with T-Cam view and cars only during a replay.

I guess from your comment they are not!

Cheers

Tony
