Need For Speed II wierdness

I have NFS2 on a Pentium computer with a 2D card and everything is fine.
However, I just picked up a new Pentium II today and I am having a wierd
problem.  At every option menu, the choices scroll wildly and it is hard to
make a selection.  Here's what I have:-

Pentium II 266
64 MB RAM
Soundblaster  AWE 64 soundcard
Diamond Viper V330 graphics card
MS Sidewinder Pro Joystick

I did install DirectX 5 prior to installing NFS2, just like I did for the
Pentium.

Just a note.  I do not have the computer right now.  I had to take it back
because they did not install the specific brand hard drive that I asked for.
I should have the new system back on Tuesday.

Could you please email me a courtesy copy of any posted response since my
newsserver is kinda flaky sometimes?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

I had a similar problem when I first started playing NFSIISE.  In my case it
was because my joystick's center position under Win95 was "jumpy" and was
scrolling the menues and also made it so you couldn't watch the videos of the
cars.  The lastest patch of NFSIISE fixed this condition, so you might want to
make sure you have the latest patch installed (if there is one).  I'm not sure
if this is the same for NFSII, but that's how my problem was fixed.

I had this happen when I was messing around with the joystick calibration.
Make sure you calibrate the joystick correctly, (TM Propanel is good) before
running the game.

Good Luck
