Le Mans 24 Hours on Dreamcast, and MSR too... Any good?

I'm thinking about picking up a Dreamcast as the indie shops close to where
I work are rife with 2nd hand consoles. A number of Dreamcast owners I've
spoken recommend a broadly identical selection of 10 or so games, of those
LM24 and MSR figure very highly. What's the RAS take on these games, and are
there any other racing titles for the format worth looking for?

F355 is the most realistic imho.  Plenty of long term play value and worth
looking for.  Le Mans and MSR were fun for a bit, but the arcade style
physics wears thin.  Worth picking up if they are priced cheap.

The absolute best racer on the dreamcast is F355, at least if you're
looking for something fairly simmy.

As far as arcade stuff goes, I enjoyed Metropolis Street Racer quite a
bit.  I could never really get into LM24 for some reason, but it
certainly wasn't a bad game.  If you don't mind that it's a pure
arcade game, CART Flag-To-Flag can be fairly entertaining, and it has
a few***pit cameras which is always a plus for me.

I initially enjoyed LM24 on the DC.  However it eventually lost it's
appeal after a couple months.

As has been said F355 Challenge is the best.  I bought it for my PS2
(after the DC was sold) and still love it.

I'm not sure what MSR is...

Agree with all who said F355 is the most sim-like.  Spent a fair
amount of time hot-lapping and racing the challenging (but
frustrating) AI.  Definite pick.

I probably played Lemans 24 hrs even more.  Yes, including a 24 hr
race!  Recommended.

MSR (=Metropolis Street Racer, father of Project Gotham Racing),
is a fun arcade game.  It can get maddeningly frustrating though.
XBOX's, PGR and especially PGR2 are superior.  But recommended.

Won't compare to GT3 on the PS2, but probably still quite
playable.

Another interesting one was GT2 using "Bleemcast".  GT2 looks far,
far better on the DC than on the PSX or PS2.

These are the three race games I have on my DC, and are really the
reasons I bought the DC.  However, the DC is gathering dust.  If
you are interested, make an offer for the machine and those games
plus an added controller and a couple of memory units.

Dave, do you live in the US? I'm in the UK.

Yep, US.  So much for a sale.  Good luck on your search.

Oh also remembered I have SegaGT.  You do NOT want that one.
The game is fair, but the controllability was absolutely
horrid.  XBOX version SegaGT2002 is much better, but is still a
poor comparison to GT2.
