game controller help !!

by John Moor » Wed, 05 May 1999 04:00:00

I am not getting anywhere with this please help me.
In win 95 control panel when I doubleclick on the game controllers icon
nothing happens! the config/calibration box does not come up! However I
can open ThrustMasters propanel but when I select a device I get an
error msg. In system properties and norton utilities my soundblaster
live gameport is there and drivers are in place so I think thats ok.
Also some cd's give me error msg's too! I can search cd's and load
drivers etc but if I put in a cd game that doesn't use the gameport  I
get an error msg saying my win/sys/ mss32.dll file is corrupted. When I
look at it in explorer it is twice the size of the mss32.dll file in
other directories. I tried replacing it with no luck.  The odd part and
reason I think it's a win 95 problem is that game controller not coming
up. Please help me, I can surf and get some work done but this problem
is cramping my style! Typical out of the blue problem???
Thanks so much, JM

Sounds like your soundcard may have some bad drivers (maybe left over
ones) installed.  I would try to remove all of your sound card entries
via the Device Manager and try a fresh "hardware" installation.
